We are your one stop shop for your conservation and collections care needs offering both preventive and interventive services. We can deliver training, workshops and talks in all areas of collections care, and can tailor them to suit your audience. Previously students, professionals and volunteers have benefitted from our training, and have successfully implemented the knowledge they have gained to the benefit of their institutions.

These are some examples of the Training we could deliver for you; other topics are available but if you have specific needs that aren’t covered in anything we mention please get in touch as we would be delighted to create bespoke packages for you.

Object Handling & Packing – learn how to correctly handle and move objects to ensure their safety and your own. This course includes introductions to a variety of handling and movement methods and includes practical training. It can also be tailored to your collections and run on-site.

Housekeeping & Conservation Cleaning – How do you clean your collections? Could what you do actually be harming them? This is an introduction to cleaning collections using methods that conservators use with an aim to prolong the life of your objects whilst keeping them looking as good as possible.

Pest Management – Have you noticed the increase in moths in recent years? Did you know that insects can eat your objects? This course will introduce you to the various museum pests, how to recognise damage, and what to do about it. We will look at monitoring, preventive and treatment methods and give you the tools to create your own pest management plan.

We both have Museum Mentor training and experience so can advise and assist with queries relating to Accreditation. Our courses can help with this process by giving skills to your volunteers or staff that enable them to meet core criteria from the Collections Management section of the Accreditation Standard.
