Sarah

Hello, I’m Sarah and I am a consultant preventive conservator and accredited member of our professional body, ICON. I specialise in preventive conservation and collections care, including lighting and environmental management and have an interest in developing the understanding of these topics within both the museum and historic house sector and the wider public. I enjoy meeting and working with enthusiastic individuals, museum staff and volunteers, and sharing my skills and knowledge.

I originally trained at Cardiff University and gained a BSc(Hons) in Archaeological Conservation in 1994. Subsequently my interest in preventive conservation and environmental control developed through internships with the Museum and Galleries Commission and The National Trust. I have since spent many years advising independent, often purely volunteer run, museums in preventive conservation and collections care and encouraged them to gain Museum Accreditation by meeting national standards.

My client list encompasses museums and historic houses of all sizes, and their enormously varied collections. These include The National Trust, Norfolk Museums and Archaeology Service, The Red House, The National Horseracing Museum, Derby Museums, and Bedford Museum and Art Gallery. I am also a Museum Mentor to Mundesley Maritime Museum.
